Replying To Ads

How do I reply to an ad?

  • Click on the "Reply To" link in the ad. This should open your email application.
  • If your email application doesn't open, cut and paste the email address into your email application.
  • Some ads have an email address or phone number in the body of the ad. You can use these to reply to ads as well.

The email address in the ad is a DealStream address. Will you forward my email to the person who posted the ad?

Yes. We will forward your email immediately.

Why do you use anonymous email addresses as the reply to addresses for ads?

It's a matter of privacy. We don't want spammers using our site to harvest email addresses. If an advertiser wishes, they can put their email address in the body of their ad, but few advertisers choose to do this.

Will the person who posted the ad be able to see my email address?

Yes. When you send an email to an advertiser the email will look like it came directly from you. Your email address will appear as the From address in the email.

Can I send an attachment with my reply?

Yes, you can attach files up to 1 MB.

My email came back as undeliverable. What should I do now?

  • Make sure that the ad is still posted on the site. We stop forwarding emails to advertisers when their ads are deleted.
  • If you copied the email address into your email application, make sure that you copied it correctly.
  • Did you include a large file or image? Attachments must be less than 1 MB.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do you review ads before they are posted on your web site?

No. We publish ads "as is" and we rely on our users to tell us about ads that violate our Terms Of Use.

Why was my ad deleted?

There are three possible reasons:

  1. Your ad expired.
  2. You deleted the ad yourself.
  3. Your ad was flagged by other DealStream users for violating our Terms Of Use.

What are flags and flagging?

Users may flag ads they believe are in violation of our Terms Of Use by clicking on one of the links at the upper right corner of each ad. There are three types of flags:

  1. Prohibited means the ad advertises a prohibited item.
  2. Miscategorized means the ad is posted in the wrong category.
  3. Overposted/Spam means the ad is posted too frequently. Ads for the same item or service may only be posted once a week.

Ads that receive a sufficient number of qualified negative flags are subject to removal.

How can I protect myself from "scammers" and "fraudsters"?

  • Be suspicious. If an offers sounds too good to be true, then it probably is.
  • Check people out before you do business with them and be wary of people that are hard to check out. Many scammers claim to be senior officials of foreign companies or governments.
  • Never give out financial information (bank account, social security number, or credit card). Fraudsters can use this information to steal your identity.
  • Be careful about accepting cashier's checks and money orders from people you don't know. Forged checks are common.
